Park your boat before you float with new car park at Patonga

NSW Government logoCentral Coast boaters now have safer and easier access to the Hawkesbury River with work complete at the Dark Corner car park at Patonga.

The upgrade will improve safety and traffic flow and was delivered under the NSW Government’s $98 million Boating Now program.

Central Coast Mayor Lisa Matthews said she is pleased the council  partnered with the  NSW Government to deliver better access to the existing boat ramp, which will  increase community enjoyment of the surrounding water and foreshore reserve.

“Thanks to funding from the NSW Government we have been able to improve boating access and recreational facilities on the Hawkesbury River, which is very popular with residents and visitors alike,” Mayor Matthews said.

Work started in May this year, with Transport for NSW providing $295,000 towards the construction of the new car park including 15 new car-boat trailer spaces, disabled parking spaces and a boat rigging area.

The funding also provided new directional signage identifying car and trailer parking as well as seating and reserve improvements.

The Boating Now program providing funding to upgrade and build new infrastructure including boat ramps, jetties, pontoons, car parks and sewage pump-out facilities.

Under the Boating Now program, Transport for NSW has committed almost $1 million to maritime infrastructure projects in the Gosford electorate since 2015.

Projects completed in the Gosford electorate to date include:

  • Koolewong Boating Facilities
  • Terrigal Haven Boat Ramp Upgrade
  • Provision of Dinghy Storage Areas at Gosford Waterfront, Saratoga and Koolewong
