Coral Coast Rally 2024
The Coral Coast Rally began many years ago and was originally called the Dent to Dunk yacht race. After Cyclones Yasi and Larry twice over destroyed the Dunk Island Resort, the race was scaled down and renamed the Coral Coast Rally.
The Abell Point Yacht Club aims to introduce participants to cruising, with a tad of racing thrown in if they so desire. As they say, more than one yacht and you have a race.
The rally is open to all who wish to participate, be it yachts or power boats and is an excellent introduction to sailing with other experienced boaties and to also get out of that comfort zone.
The rally is a 10-day leisurely cruise from Airlie Beach to Magnetic Island stopping along the way at the Cape Gloucester Beach Resort the first night then on to Cape Upstart and Cape Bowling Green then on to Horseshoe Bay on Magnetic island. The final couple of days are spent at the Nelly Bay Marina. The entry fee includes skippers pack & rally shirt, dinners, sundowners, beach games, prizes, joke competitions while cruising, biggest fish catch and more. You can participate in everything or whatever you like.
The rally culminates in a presentation evening at a local restaurant on Magnetic Island.
