The Spice Islands Darwin Ambon Yacht Race is back for the first time since 2019, departing from Darwin on Saturday 5 August 2023.

With three divisions, IRC Racing, PHS Monohull and PHS Multihull, the race attracts a diverse range of yachts and yachties who are keen to experience the fabulous downwind sailing conditions to Ambon.

The race organiser, Dinah Beach Cruising Yacht Association, is thrilled to say that the Ambon City Council and local communities are gearing up to turn on a warm Indonesian welcome for all participants after their 630 nautical mile race north. Be sure to take part in the activities available so you can meet and mingle with the locals, visit a community, explore the city of Ambon and learn more about the Australian war history there, and spend time getting to know your fellow sailors during the few days after the race.

Presentation and closing event will be held on 12 August, but many choose to stay in the Maluku region post-race to explore the Archipelago with the Banda, Kai and Tanimbar Islands in close proximity.
