The Australian Wooden Boat Festival has closed boat afloat registrations for the upcoming February 2023 event with a record-breaking number of interstate boats registering interest to attend.

In total 354 vessels registered, with 38% registering from interstate. However, not all of these vessels will be offered a berth, as the capacity in the Sullivan’s Cove is approximately 280 vessels.

Organisers expect a large waitlist, with boat owners always pleased to receive a call offering them a berth. Organisers are now working through notifying each vessel owner of their berth or waitlist position, and are working on the largest game of Tetris in Tasmanian history (berthing those 280 boats).

AWBF General Manger, Paul Stephanus stated “It is also exciting to see that 144 of those registered boats have never displayed at a Festival before. The number of wooden boat enthusiasts making their way to the Festival to celebrate maritime culture just keeps growing.”

All boat afloat registrants would now have received an email advising them of the outcome of their registration.
