Growth of an Aussie Icon brand
Rolly Tasker Sails has been around since 1949 and today operates from the world’s largest, purpose-built sailloft in Phuket, Thailand, exporting to all “corners” of the globe.
Down under, Sam and Greg Newton have owned the Australian business for over 20 years however its only over the past couple of years that it has grown exponentially with new branches being established in southern and northern Queensland and export markets opened up into New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
Sam, who has just come off multiple sailing wins (for the Aussies at Sail GP, aboard Black Jack in the Sydney to Hobart and a clear victory aboard Andoo at the 100th Australian 18 footer championship) explains the reasons for this growth.
“There have been many factors that have contributed but the standouts are clearly the strong resurgence of the brand due to it being well priced and of very high quality. This is closely followed by our level of responsiveness, service and support which clients consider to be leading the industry.
And finally, there is our fantastic offering of ‘off-the-shelf’ downwind sails and storm sails where all the hard work in sizing and design has already been done. Our clients just select the size and colour. Especially popular are our range of Code C sails which offer the cruising sailor all the convenience of a furling sail with a wide downwind range.”
