AkzoNobel is reinforcing its commitment to developing yacht coating solutions that drive down costs, while maximising time savings, with the introduction of Quick Build – a versatile sealing and surface priming system under its Awlgrip® range.

Its fast dry times and short overcoating intervals allow a full system to be completed in a single day – turbo-charging applicator and boat-yard productivity.

Developed specifically for production boat builders, new boat dealers and fast boatyard applications, Quick Build uses black and white colour bases for improving topcoat hide and colour on small GRP and aluminum boats.

Its two primer bases are fast, flexible and easy to apply – Quick Build Sealer is a one-coat solution that is precision engineered for small parts and production environments, it can also be applied directly to properly prepared aluminum and does not require sanding prior to application of the Awlgrip topcoat.

While for aged substrates or surfaces that require more work, Quick Build Surfacer is recommended.

Combined with Awlgrip® topcoats, the two products provide a quick and easy system that delivers an unrivalled finish.

Grégoire Mercie, Regional Sales Manager Yacht (N&S Asia), comments: “The Awlgrip® range is renowned within the yacht coatings sector for the outstanding quality and restless innovation that all its products share.

“Our new Quick Build priming system continues this proud tradition – providing stand-out time and cost-savings for customers – by accelerating the steps required to produce an excellent finish.

“It offers the perfect fusion of convenience and performance, giving the desired results applicators require.

“That’s why we’re convinced Quick Build is the future of fast-production boat build, component manufacturing and swift boatyard applications – delivering savings where it matters most – in time and money.”

Its stand-out benefits have already seen it scoop one of the industry’s most prestigious honours – an IBEX Innovation Award in 2018.

The system will be showcased at The Sydney International Boat Show, 29th July – 1st August 2021, as part of its launch into the Asia-Pacific market.
