The 2019-20 Sabre Sailing Association of WA Boating Hardware WA State Championships  were hosted by Perth Dinghy Sailing Club over 2 days on the weekend of 14th & 15th March 2020. A record fleet of 30 Sabres entered the event from 5 clubs.

Only one race was sailed on Saturday due to the breeze dropping out for the afternoon session.  Sunday was more promising with a light 10 knot breeze swinging wildly making the race officers job very difficult to set a course on Matilda Bay.

Finally the fleet got way and 3 heats were sailed on Sunday. Enough heats were sailed to constitute a series.

Overall Results:-

  • Open Champion 1st: Scott Olsen FSC
  • 2nd: Tony Carr  PDSC
  • 3rd: Clayton Erwin  PDSC
  • Ladies Champion: Heidi Miller   PDSC
  • 2nd: Anne Gaunt  MYC
  • 3rd: Narelle Thomas  PDSC

The WA Sabre fleet is expected to expand again next season with a number of boats being built and other sailors returning to the fleet.
