Avalon Sailing Club is home to a fleet of wet-stored Etchells, which generally compete in the Club’s mixed fleet trophy series. Every year the Club hosts a two-day Regatta specifically for the class. Visiting yachts are very welcome. In a departure from previous practice, this year’s event will offer a separate division for yachts not carrying spinnakers. The trophy previously awarded to the handicap winner will go to the scratch non spinnaker yacht.

To be eligible to enter, yachts must be able to comply with International Etchells Class Rules and in addition must be coated with antifouling paint below the water line.

The dates for this year’s event are Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th March. The format will, as in previous years, consist of six races over the two days. There will be a dinner at the Clubhouse on Saturday night, and a presentation on Sunday afternoon.

This will be the 12th time the Regatta has been held. The Regatta is named for Don McLachlan, who introduced the class to the club nearly 30 years ago.
