National E dinghies

The 54th Australian Championships for the National E dinghies (formerly known as Lazy Es) will be held at Gosford SC from 6 to 10 January 2020. It will be a significant regatta for South Australian David Wise who has been National Champion over a dozen times in the 54-year-old event but says this will be the last time he will compete.

The ‘E’ is a traditional one-design sailing dinghy carrying a crew of two with trapeze and spinnaker. It’s 4.6m boat which gives the exhilaration of sailing an open planing hull but large enough to provide a degree of stability and comfort.  A few owners continue to compete in major events even in their 80s. It will be a pleasant change for all to be racing in the relative calm of Brisbane Water compared to their home waters of Spencer Gulf, Port Phillip Bay and Sydney Harbour Sound.
