As well as many famous Sydney yachts, only 6 ‘Whirlwind’ models were ever produced by the respected Sydney Griffin family- this one built up Pitt Water way; built for the budget minded. This gem is tender, only 3 Ton and sails beautifully, with classic old features and charm.
Built for Sydney Harbour, it has a rel. large cockpit for summer sunning, as well as having a bimini if wanted. Newish mail and jib, plus spinnakers. Re-rigged in 2008 in stainless.
Aux. power is the trusty Volvo Penta MD1B – yes still going well. Lots of extras- incl. BBQ, 2 new batteries, 40lt water, portable shower, metho 2 burner stove, ‘pump out’ and porta potty loos. Sleeps 4, though the forward vee-berth is the pick, with settee in ‘down position’ for 2 extra. Hull speed 6.5 Knots. Regularly slipped- present owner enjoyed 18 good years, incl. initial extensive professional rebuild. Sits Drummoyne area, Sydney. Dinghy avail. Reluctant sale; Moving to country.
