KVH Industries, Inc., recently shipped its 3,000th TracPhoneterminal for the mini-VSAT Broadband network, extending the company’slead as the provider of the world’s most widely used maritime VSAT service. Launched in 2007, KVH’s maritime broadband service was the first to use spread spectrum technology that enabled small, easy-to-install onboard terminals to receive fast, affordable VSAT quality data connections offshore. KVH grew its service to become the world’s largest maritime VSAT network through a geographic coverage rollout that is now complete and covers all the world’s oceans.

“Early last year the VSAT network was launched in Australia and the response has been positive to say the least. Capacity is easily added to support growth to fulfil business needs and KVH offers fast, affordable rate plans. This VSAT service prioritises critical applications and allows for the ability to set up multiple networks for operations, crew, vessel charters, visitors, and passengers.” Said Paul Garske, General Manager of Coursemaster Autopilots Pty Ltd, Australian distributor of KVH TracPhone and TracVision products.

“Even boats as small as 9m can take advantage of on-board satellite phone and internet as the TracPhone V3 gyro-stabilised marine antenna is only 37cm in diameter and KVH offers a complete end-to-end solution with24/7/365 support and the ability of the support centre to diagnose both hardware and service issues.” said Garske.

KVH’s new Business Class Service provides unrestricted, prioritised, multi-megabit service with unfettered access to any content, including streaming media formats, Voice over IP (VoIP) services like Skype™, and rich media websites. This service is perfect for customers who don’t want to be constrained by the restrictions and inherently lower data speeds of fixed plans and includes five new Unrestricted Plans for the TracPhone V11, V7-IP and V7 antennas.
