Hope Island Marina Under New Management

24-Jan-2012
Consolidated Properties’ Hope Island Marina is under new management, with local boaties and businessmen Keith and Ian Forbes taking the helm of the precinct, with just a limited number of freehold berths available for purchase or lease.

The brothers, who are already the owners of two boats, an apartment and multiple berths at Hope Island Marina, have a long-standing passion for the open water – having built their first kayak in their early teens, with Keith also having competed in trans-pacific sailing races.

Their new management role includes responsibility for the daily operation of the marina, with an emphasis on the short and long term rental of berths. Continued interest in the marina is expected from local boat owners as well as interstate and international travellers who see Hope Island as a great base for a south east Queensland stopover.

Mr Ian Forbes said the opportunity to secure the management rights to Hope Island Marina was too good to miss, considering the northern Gold Coast’s potential for growth.

“My brother and I have been dedicated boaties for many years, so we have moored at plenty of marinas and we can confidently say that Hope Island is the best that we have ever seen,” he said.

“It’s one of the few marinas in the region offering freehold berths, which represent a great opportunity for owner-occupiers and investors, and its location near the Broadwater, ocean and Moreton Bay Islands is second to none.

“We were also impressed by all the facilities on offer, including a supermarket, shops, restaurants, golf course and proximity to the motorway and Airport.

“We really see the northern Gold Coast – and particularly Hope Island - as a major growth area for the coming years, so we have taken the opportunity to establish our business in boating, which has always been a popular pastime in this region.”

Consolidated Properties project partner Lachlan Grantley said he was confident Keith and Ian would be an asset to owners and tenants at the Marina.

“Both Keith and Ian have great knowledge of the local waterways and are passionate boaties themselves, so they will really be able to assist people to ensure they make the most of the marina and its facilities,” he said.

“The marina precinct was extremely busy over Christmas and New Year with locals and visitors to the Gold Coast, so we anticipate our remaining berths will be taken up quickly.

“We only have a limited number in each berth class remaining, with prices starting from just $8290 per lineal metre – representing a discount of up to 30 per cent on original list prices. Berth sizes range from 14 – 20 metres.

“Hope Island Marina is really a unique offering for those who want a well-priced, centrally located berth close to everything the Gold Coast has to offer.”
