‘Hands Across the Blue’ for Prostate Cancer  26-Aug-2016
This weekend the Shag Islet Cruising Yacht Club will host their annual rendezvous in Gloucester Passage, Whitsundays, Queensland. A significant activity at the 2016 SICYC Rendezvous is “HANDS ACROSS THE BLUE” for Prostate Cancer.

  
SCYC Nominates Heinz Seeberg for Outstanding Service to Sailing in Queensland Award  26-Aug-2016
The Sunshine Coast Yacht Club (SCYC) has announced that Heinz Seeberg has been chosen as one of three finalists for the prestigious state yachting award- the Solo Trophy- Outstanding Service to Sailing. The winners will be announced in Brisbane at the Queensland office of Australian Sailing on September 16th.

  
2016 Darwin to Ambon Yacht Race  26-Aug-2016
This year was the 32nd Darwin to Ambon Yacht Race, it was hosted by Dinah Beach Cruising Yacht Club. A fleet of 16 yachts with more than 100 crew from 9 countries set sail from North Australia bound for Indonesia on 13th August 2016.

  
Good roll-up for Northshore Championship 2016  25-Aug-2016
A record–equalling 16 boats contested the annual Australian Championship for Northshore Yachts at Royal Motor Yacht Club Toronto on the weekend of 20-21st August. Several boats made the journey from home ports at Port Stephens, Newcastle and Broken Bay as well as other Yacht Clubs on Lake Macquarie to compete in the regatta.

Airlie Beach Race Week started with three unbeatable days of sailing under the sun and then conditions became testing for the remainder of the regatta, with even more dismastings, a boat aground and two crew were taken to hospital after being injured by booms in gusty south-easterly winds.

Newport local and Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club member, Jason Waterhouse, sailing with his cousin and team mate, Lisa Darmanin made history this morning winning a silver medal in the newly added Nacra 17 class sailing in their first ever Olympic Games.
