Sailing Champion Andy Fethers guest speaker at Marine Industry Foundation Fundraiser  20-Oct-2016
The Marine Industry Foundation (MIF) is holding its second fund raising event, at the Royal Perth Yacht Club on Friday 11 November. The guest speaker at the luncheon is Andy Fethers. Andy is an America’s Cup sailor, World Match Racing Champion and two-time World Sailing Champion. His talk will include reflections on the 34th America’s Cup in San Francisco where he raced last summer in a giant wing masted hydrofoil reaching 48.6 knots.

Western Australia’s very own tall ship, the STS Leeuwin II has set sail to travel in Dirk Hartog’s steps. The STS Leeuwin II is sailing up the historical WA coast from Fremantle to Shark Bay from 14 – 21 October 2016 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the first Dutch contact with Western Australia.

Transport for NSW today announced a new partnership in support of the longest paddling race of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. The Massive Murray Paddle will see participants wind their way along the picturesque Murray River from Yarrawonga to Swan Hill, covering 404 kilometres in five days.

The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club will unveil their Sesquicentennial Sculpture on October 15, 2016 which will mark the beginning of a year of celebrations to commemorate the Club’s 150 years of sailing. The official date for The Club’s 150th birthday is October 15, 2017.
