Minister for Roads and Freight Duncan Gay today announced new funding and parking measures for boat trailers in NSW, which would increase the availability of off street parking and remove abandoned boat trailers from busy suburban streets.

  
Sabot Sailing 2014 NSW State Champion Crowned  18-Nov-2014
The 2nd round of the NSW Beneteau Vicsail Sabot State Championships was sailed at Toronto Amateur Sailing Club over the 15th & 16th November. 56 Sabots took to the waters of Lake Macquarie under the control of PRO Tony Outteridge who on the Saturday got 4 races away in ideal 15 knots of breeze which built to 20 knots later in the afternoon. Henry Larkings who came into the 2nd round 2nd behind Jed Fatches scored a 1st and a 2nd in the 1 ups.

Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race hopeful, St George Midnight Rambler, had a quick downwind ride to the finish in the Port Hacking Race this afternoon, to claim first place in the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s Ocean Point Score’s (OPS) Race 4 by four minutes over Balance.

Paul Clitheroe has sailed his TP52 Balance to its first major win in the drawn out Cabbage Tree Island Yacht Race this weekend, beating St George Midnight Rambler to the punch by close to five minutes, the two cleaning on the rest of the fleet.

Australian James Spithill has taken out the prestigious 2014 ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year Award in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Spithill becomes just the third Australian to take out the title, alongside fellow 2014 nominee and winner of the Award in 2013, Mathew Belcher and Tom Slingsby in 2010.

The Wonderful Indonesia Fremantle to Bali Race and Rally which sets off in May 2015 has already seen twenty three boats register for the event with many more anticipated. Created thirty years ago by Fremantle Sailing Club and held every two years the event is one of the longest international blue water classics on the Australian yachting calendar, more than twice the distance of the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.
