Sound Safe – new entertainment product from GMESound Safe – new entertainment product from GME

Today most of us appear to be inseparable from our mobile phone, iPod or MP3 player. Our greatest fear is that we’ll get it wet, drop it overboard or ruin it with sand or dust.

The GME Sound Safe is a robust, buoyant, waterproof case with an integrated amplifier and speaker which quickly connects to any media player 3.5mm headphone socket via an internal cable.

Virtually any personal media player, cell phone, including the recently released iPhone 5, fits securely within the Sound Safe’s watertight housing, there’s even a little additional space to hold car keys, money or other valuables; in fact the Sound Safe remains buoyant with a payload of up to an impressive 230 grams. A carabiner clip is also provided for additional security.

By utilising a highly efficient Class D amplifier, Sound Safe can deliver up to 30 hours of entertainment from a set of three AA batteries.

Windcraft acquires majority shares in Yoti

The Windcraft Group of companies has acquired the majority share holding in boutique yacht brokerage Yoti.

Since its inception in 2007 Yoti has grown quickly to become a dominant force in the sale of quality brokerage yachts in Australia.

This move gives Windcraft a dedicated brokerage section and allows the company’s other divisions, Team Windcraft and eyachts, to specialise in new boat sales.

To allow room for the expansion and ensure the availability of marina berths for Pittwater customers, the eyachts and Yoti divisions of Windcraft head office will be based at Quays Marina Church Point.

Team Windcraft’s head office remains at Bayview Anchorage Marina and eyachts and Yoti will still have window display and full access to the Windcraft Group Service Centre, which now employs six full time staff.

Grey skies but hot times in Jervis BayGrey skies but hot times in Jervis Bay

The team at SBM Sydney doesn’t do anything by halves and the Jervis Bay Jam was no exception. On the morning of November 17, around 60 adventurous individuals aboard 15 luxury power boats made their way from SBM at the Spit in Sydney’s Middle Harbour bound for the crystal clear waters of Jervis Bay.

The journey was planned as a warm-up for the upcoming SBM 2013 Lord Howe Island adventure.

The trip gave everyone a taste of bluewater running complete with some spectacular sightings of whales along the way.

On Saturday afternoon SBM Dealer Principal Steve Batton was suddenly seen diving underwater only to return to the surface with a large Port Jackson Shark in his arms for all to enjoy and kids to pat.

Saturday night saw a wig and black tie cocktail party on the beach. A cocktail bar was set up on the sand with the blender going full bore powered by a portable 2kva Honda Genset. The freshest of margaritas were enjoyed by all. SBM then put on a 5-star banquet including some of the best oysters ever tasted.

A fairly relaxed trip back saw the boats reach Sydney in just over 3 hours cruising at around 26-27 knots, while other boats headed to Port Hacking some even further north to Port Stephens.

Retrofit your old pump outRetrofit your old pump out

Electric toilets have been appearing on the market in various shapes and forms over a number of years. But one of the hassles involved in trading in the old ‘manual’ is finding the time to re-engineer the pedestal and re-arrange the plumbing.

But for those who own boats fitted with a standard manual Jabsco, an easy solution is available.

Jabsco manufacture a sleek modern electric replacement that exactly matches the footprint, fixing points and hose connections of its manual brother. The only extra requirement to complete the retrofit is the installation of electric wiring.

For those wanting to impress the first mate and bring their boat into the 21st century, the Jabsco ‘Toilet Lite Flush’ is a sure winner. Arnold’s Boat Shop has these units listed for $796.00 and for $10.00 will ship anywhere in Australia.

Mercury RIB now rated to 15hpMercury RIB now rated to 15hp

The very popular 290 Ocean Runner RIB has been re-rated and can now run a 15hp outboard – a significant jump from the previous 10hp limit.

“We regularly compare our boats against the latest international regulations and we’ve found the 290 now warrants a power increase,” said Ian Stanley, Product Manager for Mercury Inflatable Boats.

The 290 Ocean Runner RIB performs brilliantly in a number of roles – as a yacht tender, a fishing platform or a fun family run-about. At 2.9m and able to carry up to four people, the 290 Ocean Runner RIB weighs in at just 62 kilograms.

With three separate air chambers and a flat non-skid fibreglass floor it also comes with an extra tough transom and a strong fibreglass seat.

Mercury Inflatable Boats include high-quality long-life fittings, davit lifting points, paddle-securing clamps, convenient lifting and grab handles, oars and a high velocity air pump.

The styling in the Dehler 38 is a cool mix of retro modernism. The interior’s new design lines are smooth, contemporary and smart. It’s an inspiring option for the owner looking to make a style statement and go beyond classic yacht interiors.
