Yacht Sentinel saves $220,000 boatYacht Sentinel saves $220,000 boat

“I was about to head overseas for 10 days and started getting bilge alarm SMS alerts from my Yacht Sentinel boat monitor. On investigation, the bilge pump had physically failed with the impeller having come away from the shaft and water was over the top of the pump in the bilge. I’m not sure how it would have fared without a bilge pump while I was away,” says Smart1Marine customer.
The Yacht Sentinel device is not just an entry alarm system it also monitors your boat when you’re not on board. Bilge sensors will alert via SMS messaging if water ingress is above accepted levels. The Yacht Sentinel is a small price to pay to monitor your boat when you’re not on board.
The internal GPS can be used to track position, monitor the boat at anchor or alert if moved without consent.

Raymarine launches hand-held thermal night vision

Sophisticated thermal imaging night vision technology is now available in a compact, hand-held camera format with the launch of Raymarine’s new TH Series. The new TH24 and TH32 Thermal Cameras are lightweight and easy-to-use, giving boaters the power to see clearly for up to a kilometre, even in total darkness.
The TH Series thermal cameras make pictures from heat, not light. As everything – even ice – has a ‘thermal’ print, objects show up through the thermal energy they emit.
Thermal imaging means users see landmarks, bridge abutments, and other vessels clearly in all light conditions from daylight to complete darkness. Thermal night vision will show rocks, buoys, floating debris, and even helps find people in the water, vital when just a few minutes makes all the difference in a matter of survival.
Priced from $2,495 this new portable format makes thermal imaging ‘must-haves’ as safety equipment for any boater.

GME Marine AntennasGME Marine Antennas

GME has increased their already large marine antenna range with the introduction of the ABL016 made from marine grade stainless steel, and has a double swivel configuration.
The ABL016 also has the same foot print as GME’s previous rectangular base antennas so updating your antenna is easy, and it comes with two rubber angled wedges for installations on sloping decks.
All antenna bases in the GME range come with unique colour coding tabs that identify which whip should be attached to which base, this takes any confusion out of replacing whips when there are multiple antenna installations on boats.
These new antenna bases are compatible with any of the 27MHz, VHF or broadcast whips which are available in a 6ft (1.8m) or 8ft (2.4m) lengths.
All of the GME marine antenna whips are manufactured in Gladesville, Sydney.
