1. HMS Pandora is best known as the ship sent to search for the Bounty mutineers and HMS Bounty itself. She was wrecked on the return voyage on the outer Great Barrier Reef.
2. The chief general seaport in Western Australia is at Fremantle.
3. HMVS Cerberus was built mainly to defend the colony of Victoria. She was launched in 1868, absorbed at Federation into the Commonwealth Naval Force and then RAN, and sold in 1926 for use as a breakwater at Black Rock, Victoria.
4. The Barnes Bay Regatta spinnaker run conducted by the Kingborough Boating Club Tasmania was won by Lock on Wood with Peter Geeves as skipper.
5. The Spit waterway on Middle Harbour in Sydney from 3 May has a new zone speed limit of 4 knots east and west of The Spit Bridge.
