David Rowell and Sean McDonagh have acquired Heron Cove Marina from the previous owners (a Japanese consortium) subsequent to leasing the facility over the past 10 years.
Additionally David has sold his interest in the repair and service company he has operated for 20+ years to Boat Mate P/L, a marine maintenance and shipwright company which now extends their involvement at The RPAYC.
Boat Mate has retained all staff previously employed by David at the Marina, thereby ensuring a continuance of the excellent work and pricing standard he established.
David is confident of Boat Mate’s further development of this business and wishes them every success in their new service centre.
Along with Sean McDonagh, David will now be fine tuning Rowell Marine and further develop the family brokerage established by Bill 40+ years ago.
The brokerage team now consists of Bill and David Rowell, Sean McDonagh and Garry Moreton.

The lines are familiar but the fitout and finish are from the current era, and of a different class. The Ultimate 270 is based on a Northshore 27 but that is where the resemblance ends.
Sydney boatbuilder Jerry Hendrey, specialises in taking classic yacht hulls and rebuilding them as new boats with a high-style fitout.
Jerry bought the 27 stripped the hull then rebuilt it to the highest standards of style and workmanship.
“I wanted to show that Australians could match the best European boatbuilders,” Jerry said. “And I wanted to do something under 30ft because there is nothing much on the market.”
The standing rigging is new and Jerry specified a Selden boom and gas rod kicker and a Furlex furler on the forestay. The new sails are by Ian MacDiarmid.
The result of all this work is an as-new yacht with an interior of a style seen only on much bigger and more expensive boats.
