Arvor 250 AS-Deluxe

Hot on the heels of the hugely successful Arvor 20 comes the new and improved Arvor 250 AS-Deluxe to be seen for the first time this month at the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show.
The French-designed semidisplacement hull was conceived to tackle the notorious North Sea but will be equally at home fishing and cruising on Australian waters.
Attesting to its seaworthiness, one Queensland owner picked up his 25-footer in Sydney then steamed it back to Brisbane. His fuel chart made interesting reading – 22.36 litres per hour at an average speed of 20 knots.
At 1500rpm the 250 AS does about 8 knots, still in displacement mode, but from 2000rpm upwards you enter the realm of semi-planning. Top speed is 30 mph (26 knots).
It is a genuine sea boat that’s solidly built, safe and spacious, reliable and low maintenance, and fast yet frugal on fuel.

Whale Watching from Newcastle starts May 17

One of the world’s greatest natural wonders, the annual whale migration of over 6,000 magnificent Humpbacks along the Hunter coastline, heading north from May to August to breed and then returning south to the Antarctic in October and November, has created a flourishing whale watching tourist industry which to date has only been available from Nelson Bay, Port Stephens.
However, whale watching has now become a reality along the Newcastle coastline, departing from the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Newcastle’s foreshore, onboard the brand new eco-friendly luxury sailing catamaran,
N’Joy
  Owners of
N’Joy, Bruce Hodgkinson and his partner Lenore have invested over $2m into the completion of this luxury 15m sailing catamaran with a unique open viewing fly-bridge, which is licensed to carry groups of up to 50 inshore and 30 offshore. Cruises will run every weekend (9.00am & 12.30pm) and weekdays as required.

Simrad GB40 – navigation, safety and entertainment

The new Simrad GB40 Glass Bridge integrated navigation system has been specifically engineered for mid-sized power and sailing vessels.
At the heart of the GB40 is a compact NavComputer, which comes pre-loaded with global C-Map MAX Pro 3D cartography – combining GPS, land elevation, satellite photos and bathymetric sea floor data to produce a stunning virtual earth display that visually represents the environment around, above and below the vessel.
Anglers will appreciate the GB40 echo sounder. The high-power (600W or 1kW) dual-frequency (200/50KHz) sounder provides excellent bottom and fish detection down to 1000m.
Easily interfaced via Ethernet and/or USB connection to an autopilot and other instruments, the plug-and play capability of the GB40 even allows the vessel’s onboard entertainment system to be controlled at the touch of a button.
The GB40 system will be launched in Australia at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show this month.
