Green to head Maritime Property Division
NSW Maritime has a new head of its Maritime Property Division – Bruce Green.
The new position followed the retirement of the agency’s Chief Executive, Chris Oxenbould, on 28 March – and GM Maritime Property Steve Dunn taking up the Acting CEO position.
Bruce took up the role of NSW Maritime Executive Director, Strategic Development and Commercial Property in the Property Division at the beginning of March this year, after returning to Australia from Wellington, New Zealand, where he had worked for 11 years.
Prior to joining NSW Maritime, he was the Deputy Secretary of Defence (Acquisition). His role involved the purchase of military equipment for the New Zealand Defence Forces. The range of acquisitions covered aircraft, helicopters, ships, armoured vehicles, weapons, radios and command and control systems.
Before joining NZ Defence, he was Chief Executive of the development company responsible for the Wellington waterfront known as Te Whanganui a Tara. This project has rejuvenated the waterfront area, while maintaining a balance between historical and contemporary culture and a functional viable commercial centre, city and water connections and open space for recreational activities.
Previous to this, Bruce had roles with the Australian Defence Force, including as a Senior Project Director, where his portfolio included HMAS Waterhen, HMAS Watson and Spectacle Island as well as all Naval bases on the East Coast and Darwin.
He is a Civil Engineer and started his working life as a Surveyors Assistant in the Victorian open cut coal mines.
While living in New Zealand, Bruce was a yacht owner and raced and cruised extensively in New Zealand waters. He was, for a time, on the Board of the governing body of Australian Rules Football in New Zealand.
Bruce’s responsibilities heading up NSW Maritime’s Maritime Property Division include working with Maritime stakeholders to provide improved access to NSW waterways while maintaining responsibilities as land owner and manager of some of the most important sites in NSW.
Volunteer Marine Radio
NSW Maritime has published a new brochure which, for the first time, provides information, maps and contact details for all 46 volunteer marine radio bases which are operated along the NSW coast.
This incorporates bases operated by the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard, the Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol and Volunteer Rescue Association.
Information about the types of marine radio, and the importance of logging on and logging off and servicing your radio are also included.
The brochure can be downloaded at: www.maritime.nsw.gov.au/docs/Volunteer_Marine_Radio.pdf
