Avalon Sailing Club to celebrate 75 years  15-Apr-2013
This year Avalon Sailing Club commemorates 75 years of proud history on Pittwater. All members past and present are invited to join celebrations over the first weekend in November 2013, as the Club hosts a series of events to recognise its growth from a handful of VJs sailing off Clareville Beach in the 1930s, to a current membership in excess of 300.

  
$100,000 rescue vessel commissioning at Batemans Bay  12-Apr-2013
A new $100,000 rescue vessel will be officially commissioned at Batemans Bay tomorrow, boosting the emergency capability of Marine Rescue NSW volunteers on the State’s South Coast. Disabilities Services Minister and Bega MP Andrew Constance, MRNSW Commissioner Stacey Tannos and MRNSW Monaro Board Director Howard Staples will join the unit’s volunteers for the formal commissioning ceremony.

Australian youth sailors excel in light breeze in Japan  11-Apr-2013
A group of Australian youth sailors recently returned from a week of training and racing in Japan, getting an opportunity to take on the best Japanese youth crews. Australian Sailing Youth Team members Carrie Smith, Ella Clark, Louise Evans, Lachlan Gilmour and Thomas Blauw, along with fellow Australian Christopher Anderson were guests of the Japanese Sailing Federation, as a part of the Australia-Japan Youth Sailing Exchange, for a regatta at the Wakayama Sailing Club.

  
Navy counts down to International Fleet Review spectacular  10-Apr-2013
It is now less than six months until Sydneysiders experience one of the biggest commemorative events since the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games: The Royal Australian Navy’s (RAN) International Fleet Review Sydney 2013. Taking place on Sydney Harbour from 3–11 October 2013, the International Fleet Review commemorates the centenary of the arrival of the Royal Australian Navy’s new fleet on 4 October 1913.

96 Speakers at Record Breaking Marine13  09-Apr-2013
96 speakers from nine countries will address delegates at the Marine13 International Conference and Trade Exhibition being held in Sydney at the end of this month. All 47 sessions and the 96 speakers from Australia, Asia, North America and UK/Europe have now been confirmed.

  
New Documentary DVD “The Seal Rocks & S.S Catterthun by Max Gleeson  08-Apr-2013
Sydney based wreck diver and underwater filmmaker, Max Gleeson has just released his latest documentary on NSW’s shipwrecks on DVD. Titled, “The Seal Rocks and S.S.Catterthun” the production was over 7 years in the filming. The 30 minute presentations detail the maritime history of the Seal Rocks area. It covers several of the famous shipwrecks, the lighthouse and the area’s main drawcard, the Grey Nurse shark population.

  
Gold and silver for Australian sailors at World Cup  08-Apr-2013
Australia has won a gold and a silver medal on the final day of the ISAF Sailing World Cup in Palma, Spain. Mathew Belcher and Will Ryan continued their winning run with gold in the 470 men’s while Tom Burton picked up silver in the Laser class.
