John Calvert-Jones recognised with Australian Olympic Committee Order of Merit 03-May-2013
Yachting Australia would like to congratulate John Calvert-Jones AM on being recognised for his contribution to sailing and the Olympic movement with an Order of Merit from the Australian Olympic Committee. Calvert-Jones has been a long time supporter of sailing in Australia and is heavily involved in the Australian Sailing Team as Chairman of the Team’s Patrons group.

Marine13 International Lifejacket Principles 03-May-2013
NSW Office of Boating Safety and Maritime Affairs General Manager Howard Glenn yesterday announced that some of the world’s most prominent boating safety authorities and organisations have vowed to promote lifejacket use and prevent death by drowning. Representatives of national boating authorities and organisations from Australia, Canada, France, New Zealand and the United Kingdom agreed on the International Lifejacket Wear Principles, as part of the Marine13 conference in Sydney.

Boat handling course a proven show winner 03-May-2013
The 2013 BIA Melbourne Boat Show will offer a free Boat Handling Course to everybody who buys a boat at the show. It is the ninth year the show has offered the free course since the Boating Industry Association of Victoria (BIA) introduced it in 2005. BIA general manager Steven Gill said more than 600 boat buyers had taken the course to enhance the safety and enjoyment of their boating.
