Replacement Mast due to Arrive for Etihad Stadium Supermaxi  21-Dec-2009
Project Start Line is on track for the Etihad Stadium Supermaxi with Grant Wharington and his crew pleased with their progress over the weekend to prepare the 98 footer for the arrival of the replacement mast. The precious carbon fibre cargo is due to touch down at Sydney International Airport on board a Qantas flight from Singapore early this afternoon (Monday 21 December).


  
Rolex Trophy Passage Series – Alfa Romeo comes out firing  20-Dec-2009
Neville Crichton and his Alfa Romeo crew made short work of Day 1 of the Rolex Trophy Passage Series, taking line and handicap honours in today’s 27 nautical mile Passage Race. The 100 footer from New Zealand took just one hour 48 mins 25 secs to complete the course, also picking up the coveted overall IRC handicap win.

Stephen Ainsworth’s Loki has thrown a spanner in the works of near-sistership Limit, owned by Alan Brierty, taking control of the Rolex Trophy Rating Series after winning the 27 nautical mile Passage Race which started on Sydney Harbour in a fickle west of sou-west breeze.

Rolex Trophy Rating Series Day One Drama  18-Dec-2009
The Rolex Trophy Rating Series opened in dramatic fashion with progressive IRC Division 1 leader, Alan Brierty’s Reichel Pugh 62 Limit, cutting away one spinnaker and tearing another, with Rolex Trophy and Rolex Sydney Hobart handicap favourites Living Doll and Loki pulling out of race two.

  
Japan Deploys LRAD Against Sea Shepherd Helicopter  18-Dec-2009
Southern Ocean- Sea Shepherd’s ship Steve Irwin is ten days at sea after departing Fremantle, Australia, and has had a Japanese tail ship for nine of those days, the Shonan Maru No. 2. This Japanese security ship is reporting the Steve Irwin’s location, preventing them from closing in on the whaling fleet.

CLIPPER 09-10 West Aust Stopover - Eight boats alongside at Batavia Coast Marina  18-Dec-2009
Eight of the ten boats have now arrived in Geraldton at the end of the 4,700-mile Southern Ocean leg from Cape Town. California was the eighth boat to cross the line yesterday, just seven hours behind Race 4 winners, Team Finland. It is a rarity in a round the world yacht race to have so many boats finish so close together and provided the people of Geraldton with a real spectacle as they all arrived in daylight hours.
