The impromptu Little Pond Classic definitely hijacked this years Indian Ocean Classic at Fremantle Sailing Club when +30 knot winds saw the first day of the popular event cancelled. Approximately 150 nominations were received from 15 different classes.

Quest‘s Cabbage Tree Island win spoils Loki’s trifecta  09-Nov-2009
Despite Loki’s record breaking run in the Cabbage Tree Island Race yesterday, Bob Steel’s Quest, last year’s Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race winner, arrived at the Sydney Harbour finish line in time to take overall honours in the race, denying Stephen Ainsworth his wished-for race trifecta.

“Gentlemen’s sailing,” was how Dick Cawse described conditions after sailing his Lyons/Cawse 60 Vanguard to a line and overall honours double victory in today’s 30 nautical mile Botany Bay Race, sailed from Sydney Harbour to Botany Bay (south of Sydney) and return.

  
Loki smashes Cabbage Tree Island Race record  09-Nov-2009
Stephen Ainsworth and his Loki crew smashed the Cabbage Tree Island Race record today, finishing the 180 nautical mile race at 12:32:47pm, slicing more than one hour off the time set by Bob Oatley’s super maxi Wild Oats XI in the race last year.

The New South Wales 12ft skiff fleet will be following the motto of ‘Bigger is Better’ in the 2009/2010 season.
